Matter in Manhattan

Jamie Gray – our favorite Park Slope friend (and daily dose domino blogger) is now making a splash in the big city. Scores of leading editors, designers, architects and fashion gurus turned out for the opening of his meticuously curated store, Matter. The new place is located at 405 Broome Street between Lafayette & Centre and will be open late throughout the ICFF weekend (12-8PM daily).
Jamie Gray celebrates the opening of Matter with friends.
The party drew a packed house – so we took it to the streets (or rather, just outside the door).
Julie Taraska, editor Home Magazine; Jeff Miller, Jeff Miller Design and Dan Yeffet, JellyLab Studio.
Sofia Galadza, editor, Contract Magazine, Paul Makovsky, editorial director, Metropolis Magazine, Kimberly Oliver, AmericanSuccessMachinery and Cristina Covello, Covelloressor (who designed two of the cool chairs at the store).
The award for the best dressed goes to Kee Edwards, the talent behind Loup Charmant, a sweet collection of 100% organic intimates and apparal.
Dutch designers Rolf Voorhuis, Palau and Edward Van Vliet, SEVV.
Katie Woolsey, O at Home and Kimberly Oliver, AmericanSuccessMachinery – and wait, who is that fun-loving editor in the background?
After the Matter party, I visited Baccarat’s prestigious french brand’s flagship store on madison and 59th. Arik Levy’s entire new collection of stacked block candlesticks, and vases and goblets with swirls, twists, cuts and graphical punches was on display
Arik held court near the front of the store where many of his pieces were displayed atop a stack of his “rock” objects for Serralunga
There were also some “rock” shapes in crystal for baccarat as well – large and small as curios and pendants.
And his smart phantom chandelier – one arm only of a classic baccarat design to be hung and used together with others as the user desires
Plenty of prosecco and passed hors douvres as well – cheers!
