By danielle

Super hot interior designer Antony Todd along with VOGUE and Men’s VOGUE hosted a holiday atelier event last night that packed his NYC showroom. It was a champagne and caviar tasting to ring-in the new luxury items from Vertu, Di Modolo, Links of London to name a few… Antony’s clever mix of modern meets antique décor was the perfect setting to preview this wish list of holiday goodies! I am still daydreaming…

23rd Annual Interior Design Hall of Fame Awards Dinner

By danielle

Let me begin by saying that last night’s acceptance speeches were so heartfelt and kind, it made us all so proud to be in this wonderful industry. We heard from Hall of Fame inductees Francine Monaco and Carl D’Aquino of D’Aquino Monaco (she’s the architect, he’s the designer!) Carl told us that he first knew he wanted to be a designer when his parents gave him a typewriter. Seems ironic, but he said that he loved the stitching on the case and the grey color of the keys. As we all know, color is so important to their work. Todd De Garmo said it was thanks to his loving partner of 21 years that he made the move to Washington, DC and joined Studios Architecture in 1989. Now he is a CEO of this internationally respected design practice. The one-and-only Murray Moss of moss also paid tribute to his partner (and if I dare say, look-alike) Franklin. Last but not least, Ingo Maurer took the stage and gave a very emotional speech. He expressed his gratitude to his wife and praised his favorite material – Light!

The outfits were great, the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria was so exquisite and the time spent with 1500 friends was the perfect way to kick-off the holiday season. I heard many people reiterate that the Interior Design Hall of Fame dinner is one of their favorite nights of the year. We certainly cannot disagree. Congratulations to Cindy Allen (who looked fab as always) and the staff at Interior Design for outdoing themselves every year.

NY Times Style Magazine’s Fourth Annual Taste of T Event

The fourth annual Taste of T at the Architects & Designers Building was definitely a hot ticket!!! The crowd spilled out onto the sidewalk of the A&D Building and the line wrapped around the lobby. We finally made our way into the elevator and starting at the top, we wound our way down sampling treats along the way. I have to say that it was exceptionally crowded and lines began forming for the food, which only gave us more time to look around and check out the stunning showrooms. We met chefs, designers and food enthusiasts. By the time we got down to the bottom floor, I had had my fair share of the Fragoil Signature cocktail and the B&B Italia showroom was definitely a great last stop on the party train. The DJ’s were spinning, the food and drink was bountiful and we enjoyed it all while sitting on beautiful furnishings – a win-win!

Dialogue on Design with Christian Sieger

By danielle

Well, they did it again! Davis & Warshow hosted yet another slam-dunk Dialogue on Design. On Tuesday, design darling Christian Sieger was the guest-under-the-gun by Rima “the scoop” Suqi. We learned all about the fascinating life of the Sieger boys (Christian & Michael), their passion for great design, their famous father architect Dieter, their childhood growing up in a German castle, you know, the usual… The Siegers have developed a distinctive style that screams luxury. They have their own signature line of fine porcelain, menswear, accessories and have designed for Dornbracht, Duravit and Alape and somehow, in their spare time, find time to promote DJ compilations from IBIZA. We salute their contribution to making the world a more beautiful, colorful and stylish place!
BTW – I couldn’t help but notice that the Empire State Building happened to be the signature Sieger purple and red… Coincidence???

NY TableTop Market

We had a blast bouncing from showroom to showroom previewing the trend-setting tabletop, gift and home décor items at 7W. We hoofed all over the 450,000-sq. foot luxury style center. Suites throughout the mart hosted special receptions and tastings during the week. Headlining this season’s show were, entertaining expert David Tutera and design icon Karim Rashid who autographed his cool eggcups that were designed for Ritzenhoff.
