While some mega corporations like Google are drastically downgrading their office space – undoubtedly a reflection of the dire state of our economy – we just got word that global materials consultancy, Material ConneXion, is currently expanding. Since they maintain the largest library of innovative and sustainable materials and processes in the world, in early 2009 the company will officially make 60 Madison Ave. its new home, which is about twice the size of its previous location in Chelsea. Reflecting a growing demand for sustainable materials, this exciting development provides a silver lining for those working in the design industry. “The right material choices can create healthier, less toxic, and more sustainable environments,” said Andrew H. Dent, PhD, Vice President, Library and Materials Research. “Everyday brings new developments in sustainable materials, which in turn broadens design possibilities.”
