7 W Presents: The Intersection of Art, Design and Craft: Rethinking Tradition
By danielle
On the subject of art and design (which is near and dear to our hearts), 7 W New York will be kicking of the New York Design Festival on March 24th (5:30PM – 7:30PM) with a lively panel discussion led by renowned critic, curator, artist, author and educator Judith S. Schwartz. Joining her will be Massimo Vignelli, Federica Marangoni, James Wines, Armando Milani and UltraViolet- all artists/designers that took part in a design triennale in the Italian city of Este. Their designs, which were crafted in ceramics in Medieval Este, are part of Ceramica Magnficia!, an expansive exhibition of inspiring ceramic pieces that will be on display in a gallery adjoining the lecture space. Other featured designers include: Adam Tihany, Matteo Thun, Alison Sky, Krizia, Mendini, Missoni and Paola Navone. The session will take place on the 8th floor of the building (RSVP: 646.778.3209.) If you can’t make it to this event, the exhibit will be open to the public on the afternoons of March 28 & 29 and also by appointment.
