Product Placement 1.4: An exploration of materials used in unexpected ways
By alexandra
Last night’s Product Placement presentation was a huge hit, focusing on designers who use materials in unexpected ways. The curators, Julie Taraska and Kimberly Oliver were amazing hosts, treating attendees to yummy appetizers and cocktails pre-presentation at Gallery 151. We had fun catching up with old friends and mingling with talented editors, designers and artisans.
After that, we popped over to the Village Green (just next door) and enjoyed presentations by Rockwell Group‘s Barry Richards on the firm’s knit table for DIFFA‘s Dining by Design; Paul Loebach on his surreal wooden vases; Jim Zivic on his polished coal tables; Daniel Michalik on his Sway cork stool and Christine J. Brandt on her extraordinary stone-and-wood rings. We are already excited for the next Product Placement presentation!

...and a very well-mannered child who was also engaged by the presenters. They sent pieces of their materials out into the audience to check out (this little girl is marveling at a piece of cork).
