Designer Visions: Cinema Style

Movie buffs…design aficionados…have we got the perfect pairing for you!?!?  Last night, we attended the opening of Designer Visions: Cinema Style at SOHO MEWS (an uber modern condominium designed by renowned architecture firm Gwathmey Siegel & Associates in the heart of SoHo).  Now in its third year, the annual event organized by Hearst Magazines in partnership with developer United American Land LLC and Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group is an ongoing initiative to promote residential development in New York City.  Hearst titles House Beautiful, Town&Country and Veranda each partnered with an iconic designer and selected a film (either classic or current) as the design inspiration for their respective townhouse.  Thom Filicia and House Beautiful opted for one of my all time favorites, The Big Chill.  His palette features bold color and rich texture.  Town&Country and Richard Mishaan went with the popular drama/comedy, Dinner at Eight. Inspired by the stylish dinner party in this 1930s film, Mishaan gives Art Deco a modern twist.  Veranda and John Saladino selected a softer, more romatic style with Girl with a Pearl Earring. Light and geometry play the main role.

After meandering through all three spaces (and all the party-goers) yesterday, I’d have to say that Siskel and Ebert would give each an outstanding review.   I just wish my blogging budget afforded me a bit more in the financial department, as buyers will now have the opportunity to purchase these signature living spaces.  Click here for an incredible digital tour, courtesy of Designer Visions.
