“C’mon Get Happy” at NYDC

Think 1930s tinsel and movie musicals!  One of our favorite industry events is coming up this Thursday.  Just two days before Halloween, NYDC’s 4th Annual Masquerade Ball is intended to raise our spirits (no pun intended) and make us all feel good about our industry. It’s also a chance to show off your creative genius. Remember Architectural Digest’s Star Wars-inspired ensemble, Hulsta-Rolf Benz-Studio’s super-hero tribute and Amy Lau’s sassy red-heads? That’s just a smattering from 2008. With a new theme, C’mon Get Happy, this year’s array is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Plus, there’ll be hip music, outrageous dancing (we’re breaking out the limbo line again!), delicious treats, an always-fun photo booth and a tarot card reader! Tickets are $125 in advance (or $150 at the door).  All proceeds directly support the Alpha Workshop’s unique job training and employment programs in the decorative arts for low-income HIV-positive New Yorkers.  It’s a great party, benefitting a great cause.

We’ve been thinking about our costumes for a while now and think we came up with just the right solution for the Design-“Calendar-Girls.”   See you there!
