Annual AVENUE Antiques & Art at the Armory

By hawley

Read by everyone who is anyone in the Big Apple, AVENUE has carved itself a prime place as Manhattan’s leading social magazine.  As such, it is only natural to assume that such a publication from the world’s most stylish city would also be an authority on good taste- especially in decorating.  AVENUE will be hosting its annual event Antiques & Art at the Armory, just in time for the holidays. Whether this means sprucing up your own abode in preparation for hosting this year’s bash or for finding that perfect present for the most discerning, it’s all here.  With over 50 dealers, you can pick up a new set of silver, a piece of vintage jewelry, Asian porcelain, or some rare objet d’art- varying in periods and prices.

The showroom itself is designed by New York’s Richard Mishaan, sponsored by Brooks Brothers and The Pierre Hotel.  Such prominent authorities on taste and design can only hint at what’s in store for shoppers.  The best part about it?  A private preview and cocktail reception on Wednesay, December 2 will benefit The American Cancer Society’s HOPE LODGE Jerome L. Greene Family Center, and tickets can be purchased online.  Want more?  A variety of lectures will occur throughout the event, highlights include a Designer Breakfast panel discussion Decorating with Antiques hosted by author and television correspondent Susanna Salk and A Family Affair: Treasures from the Rothschild Collection at Waddesdon Manor presented by Dr. Ulrich Leben, Associate Curator of Furniture, The Rothschild Collection at Waddesdon Manor.
