Where Brooklyn at?

Even if you haven’t heard the song, you can find the answer to that question this weekend at BKLYN DESIGNS (May 7-9).  This annual fair (held in DUMBO at St. Ann’s Warehouse) is a showcase of the boroughs most talented designers and represents the large, creative industry who call Brooklyn home. Our friends at Uhuru Design, a Red Hook-based design+build company founded by RISD grads Bill Hilgendorf and Jason Horvath, are premiering the new Coney Island Line. The recently established Katch Design Company, two sisters who design with the mindset that you should “love what you live with,” will be bringing their sustainably-focused, hand-crafted furnishings to the show. Also on our radar is Daniel Moyer Design, known for his one-off high design modern furniture pieces in local air-dryed hardwoods and edgy  funkinfunctionlongboards. We can’t wait to see his funky new seating solutions…and skateboards, of course.  He’s also hosting a “Way-After” Party on May 12 at his showroom. Space is limited so RSVP early.

As a side note – we recently learned that Jacques Torres (our favorite coffee shop in the area) is now making home-made ice cream.  Might be worth a stop before & after =)
