Living in Brooklyn with a DIY-er who can always be found with a bracket wrench and cork tape on any given weekend, I couldn’t resist the invitation to attend the grand opening of the Bespoke Bicycle Exhibit at the Museum of Arts and Design on Wednesday night. Everyone from Yves Behar to Holly Hotchner was there, admiring the collection of handbuilt bicycles curated by lifelong collector Michael Maharam (of the renowned textile company Maharam). The exhibit will run until mid-August 2010 and showcases the work of six internationally renowned bicycle builders including: Mike Flanigan; Jeff Jones; Dario Pegoretti; Richard Sachs, J. Peter Weigle and Sacha White.
