Brilliant Brooklyn Boys

By Matthew

Brooklyn has always been known for chutzpah, but two-month-old Pigeontail Design seems to be taking precociousness to a whole new level. Over burritos in their neighborhood one day, William, an architect; Michal, a metal sculptor; and David, an expert in branding and marketing, decided that merging their skill sets would produce exceptionally inventive modern furniture. With only four products currently available, two chairs and two coffee tables,  Pigeontail Design has won first place in the prestigious Design Within Reach 2010 Modern+Design+Function competition for one of them. Their award-winning Papervore coffee table includes a built in manual paper shredder that turns your junk mail into a display under the table. As Kermit the Frog may have said…it’s fun to be green! This approach to modern, elegant, and decidedly approachable furniture is an example of a brilliant idea hatched in a humble place. Stay tuned for the lamp and ottoman which will be introduced shortly.
