New York Spaces & Design-Calendar Present Unveiled: SEM Style Comes Home at the NYDC Masquerade Ball

By danielle

In honor of the 5th Annual NYDC Masquerade Ball, Design-Calendar has teamed up with our friends at New York Spaces to bring you the first ever UNVEILED contest.  For the next 7 days, we’ll be posting a sketch by the famed artist George Goursat (aka SEM). His wonderfully imaginative portrayals of Paris at the turn of the 20th century inspired the theme of this year’s Masquerade Ball: Le Vrai et Le Faux Chic and caught our editor’s eye as well. For example, the aristocratic woman modeling a shortened hoop dress reminded us of a Victorian fringed lampshade.  After scouring the pages of New York Spaces magazine, the editorial team pulled a selection of fabulous furniture, lighting and accessories from the NYDC that mirror the elements in the sketch.  Each day they will UNVEIL a new series of products on their website, one of which they’ve dubbed the best match (sketch & product).  See if you have the same SEM style and can guess which one it is.  Everyday is a new vote, so check back daily. Whoever has the MOST correct matches by Wednesday, October 27 WINS! If we end up with a tie, we’ll do a random drawing of those who had the most matches. The winner will be announced on the 27th and awarded a $100 gift certificate to Padre Figlio!

Now..let the UNVEILED: SEM Style Comes Home at the NYDC Masquerade Ball contest begin. Here’s the first sketch. After you’ve studied it, click on to view the products and vote for which one you think best matches this gentleman. And finally – don’t forget to get your tickets to the ball ($125 in advance, $150 at door – 212.594.7320), proceeds benefit the Alpha Workshops.
