Handmade at NYIGF

By eva

A fresh perspective on some very old-world materials sets the stage for the Handmade division at this year’s New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF).  Using well-known materials such as wood, glass or ceramic over 500 artists will display their crafts this winter at the 2011 show. Categorized into two sections, Handmade Global Design and Handmade Designer Maker, the show promises an exciting mix of returning and new exhibitors. A preview into some of the fantastic and innovative artists displaying their work include A.W. Scopes, who makes wooden kaleidoscopes and Canada’s Stinson Studios, who produce hand-carved functional vessels from the rounded outgrowths on tree trunks.  If you’re in the big apple this winter make sure to stop by the Handmade show at NYIGF which runs Saturday, January 29th through Wednesday, February 2nd at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
