A Forecast to be Excited About

By jesse

It’s better to be upfront about it: I’m not good at 2011.  I’m consistently writing the date as “2010” and still deciding if I’m going to pronounce this year as “two-thousand eleven” or “twenty eleven.”  Maybe by June I’ll come to terms with the fact that there are no Olympics this year.

The good people of the International Furnishings and Design Association’s New York chapter are clearly more comfortable with 2011, and in fact are already looking forward to 2012. The IFDA will be holding their perennially popular Color Forecast on January 31st, hosted by the New York International Gift Fair.  The seminar will be a look at 2011-2012 color trends and those trends’ application in the home.   Featuring talks from Rue Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Crystal Gentilello and Doty Horn, Director of Color and Design for Benjamin Moore, Color Forecast 2012 promises to provide attendees with a wealth of information directly from vibrant industry leaders.  I, for one, could use an injection of color: New York’s current color-palette  runs the gamut from “snow” to “dirty snow.”

The event, held at the Javits Center, starts at 8:30 with a continental breakfast before moving on to the seminar itself from 9-10:30. Tickets start at $45 for guests and $20 for students, but IFDA members pay $30 and $15 respectively. RSVP before January 26th to secure those prices before they jump up an additional $10. The IFDA is also happy to accept RSVPs and membership applications simultaneously.  It’s tempting, especially considering IFDA members who attend are also given a badge to enter the rest of the NYIGF: a fifty-dollar value.   Call 212-686-6020 or email ifdanyny@verizon.net to RSVP and/or become a member.
