What’s new on the Atlanta Gift & Home Furnishings scene? Let’s hear from our newest blogger, Kristina Castaldo as she reports on the show…

Last week put a strain on travels along the East Coast due to the treacherous blizzard.  Even the people, who went to Atlanta, Georgia to attend Atlanta’s International Gift and Home Furnishings Market, could not escape the snow.  However, they did not let the snowfall ruin their plans to attend AmericasMart.  These buyers knew that they definitely did not want to miss out on the great new exhibits that displayed everything from Boston International’s felt cutout coasters, to Douglas Toys’ plush puppy print purses.

One exhibit that stood out was Katherine’s Collection, which displayed a new look for the holiday season.  Instead of hanging ornaments on trees, they were hung from the ceiling presenting themselves in different variations of the same color.  This showroom was innovative and whimsical, reminiscent of snowflakes falling from the sky.  Folk art was another theme that caught the eye of the buyers portrayed by the Creative Co-op.  Their collection, titled Garden Story, is filled with home accessories that bring the garden into the home using products such as birdhouses, terra-cotta birds themselves, and watering cans.

The companies that attended AmericasMart and displayed their new products, reported record-breaking sales, especially Katherine’s Collection.  This is not surprising considering the fact that the showrooms this year were intriguing and just plain beautiful.

AmericasMart was a fantastic place for buyers to learn more about the hot new trends in the design world for this year.  I am sure that they definitely did not regret trekking through the snow to make it there.
