On March 9th, 2011, AVENUE is honoring Mario Buatta, the renowned interior decorator, at AVENUE Antiques & Art at the Armory Show. An invite-only preview and cocktail party kicks off the festivities. Proceeds from the event benefit the New York School of Interior Design. NYSID, the country’s leading educational institution for interior design, will recognize Mr. Buatta by renaming its materials library and primary student workspace The Mario Buatta Atelier.

After cocktails, a gala dinner will be held at the Union Club, chaired by Hilary Ross, Anne Eisenhower and Bunny Williams.  The interiors of this party are sure to be fabulous, as designer Richard Mishaan is leading the committee and will create innovative tablescapes inspired by Guatta’s classic style. Tickets are $750.00 and include admission to the private preview.

AVENUE Antiques & Art at the Armory Show will also be open from March 10th through the 13th.  There will be 50 dealers there, specializing in high quality art and antiques. These tickets are $20 each.

The show will also host daily breakfast panel discussions and lectures including “The Influences of Mario Buatta” moderated by author and New York School of Interior Design professor Judith Gura on Thursday, March 10th 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. RSVP: mbuattabreakfast@manhattanmedia.com.

After the show, be sure to check out AVENUE Magazine’s February Edition, where they will be publishing a journal honoring Mr. Mario Buatta.
