The British Invasion Continues…

As my earlier post here shows, British design will be making a strong showing at this year’s Milan Design Week.  Well where some is good, more is better.  Not wanting to be left out of the party is British lighting and furniture Company, Tom Dixon.   They will be presenting a series of brand new products in a brand new 1200 square ft. installation entitled Multiplex and will be sponsored by the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet PC.  Multiplex is a fitting name; the booth is all at once a pop-up viewing theater, broadcasting center, restaurant, shop and gallery.

Remember earlier when I said where some is good more is better? Tom Dixon seems to have taken that to heart, and promises to depart from the typical Milan Designweek practice of displaying a single prototype by showing six working environments all in full use.  These settings all explore elements of luminosity and technology while individual settings include a Science Lab, Hotel Lobby, and Viewing Theater.   You can check out Multiplex and new Tom Dixon products at the Officine Stendhal throughout Designweek.
