Heartfelt Lanterns for Japan

Last week I drew attention to the ongoing crisis in Japan and encouraged you to donate in any way possible.  If you still haven’t, or you want a tangible reminder of your good deed, or just need a cool new bag, Vancouver based design and production studio molo will be making 50 special versions of their luminaria bag with all proceeds going to Architecture for Humanity.

The numbered, limited edition “heartfelt lantern for Japan” bags are emblazoned with the same rising sun motif as Japan’s national flag, and feature energy-efficient LED lights that can be plugged in or battery powered to serve as an unconventional light-source.  This symbolism of the bag’s rising sun appearance and illuminating qualities serves as a poignant reminder of the rebuilding process long after your donation has been put to good use.  These special lanterns will cost $150, again all proceeds to rebuilding efforts, and will be available at molo’s exhibit in Milan at the Temporary Museum for New Design.
