Happy 39th to the Kips Bay Decorator Show House!
By danielle
The 39th Annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House, located at 163 East 63rd Street in NYC, is a striking, neo-Federal style residence that was once owned by John Hay “Jock” Whitney (U.S Ambassador to the UK, publisher of the New York Herald Tribune and member of the Whitney family). Featuring 16 rooms and loads of historic detail, this 10,000 square foot mansion was the perfect place for the 2011 show house. We had a chance to visit, climb the various stairways and snap a few shots of our favorite rooms. Each has their own unique flair as the spectacular space blends the work of 23 renowned interior designers and landscape artists. The home offers many modern features, yet retains its charming, original details. Starting on May 9, Kips Bay is offering lots of fabulous, public events in the home. Mark your calendars for May 10 to shop the Show House on Gilt Home for hand-picked items by noteworthy interior and product designers. The residence will be open through May 26.
