In conjunction with the exhibition, Knoll Textiles, 1945 – 2010, the Gallery at BCG will be hosting a special exhibition catalogue book signing with Irma Boom, a world-renowned graphic designer specializing in book design. Published by the BGC in collaboration with Yale University Press and edited by Earl Martin, associate curator at the BGC, the book provides an in-depth analysis of textiles of one of the world’s leading design companies. Contributors include Paul Makovsky, editorial director, Metropolis magazine; Susan Ward, an independent textile historian; Bobbye Tigerman, assistant curator of decorative arts and design at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and Angela Völker, curator emeritus of textiles at the MAK, Vienna. This is a wonderful opportunity for rising designers to meet and speak with a Gutenberg laureate, as well as to view the vibrant and colorful exhibit. Knoll Textiles, 1945 – 2010 is not only a guide to modern textile design but also an ode to the designers themselves, with an extensive biographic section that tells the stories of the nearly 75 designers who have created textile art for Knoll since its founding
