Who Stole Rapsel’s GrandTour?

By kristin

Was it Mrs. Peacock in the Library with a candlestick or Professor Plum in the bathroom with a wrench? I’ve heard of some bizarre thefts at trade shows but nothing quite on this scaleā€¦

As I wrote in my post yesterday, Cersaie is the world’s biggest exhibition of ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings, where companies introduce their newest products to the market for the first time. For the Italian manufacturer Rapsel, this included a prototype of the gorgeous “GrandTour” bathtub designed by Italian architect Carlo Dal Bianco.

But after the show closed its doors on Sunday (September 25), someone brazenly carted off a number of Rapsel’s products, including GrandTour, right off the tradeshow floor! The police are still investigating the theft and although I wouldn’t call it poetic justice, it is kind of ironic that the bathtub was inspired by the architectural fragments and ancient ruins stolen by young upper class Englishmen during their “Grand Tour” adventures…
