Most people have heard the term “Shabby Chic®,” but not everyone realizes its origin and that it is actually a registered brand name. Rachell Ashwell, the woman who coined the term, lives and breathes the design philosophy and has devotees across the globe. She even has four Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture® stores, located in Santa Monica, California; Soho, New York; London’s Notting Hill neighborhood and Round Top, Texas. The Texas outpost is located at her newly opened prairie-themed bed and breakfast-a chic western retreat. A veteran in the interior design industry and a successful author, Ashell is now bringing her vision to a wider audience via her partnership with QVC. Her new line especially made for the retailer is truly inspired. Last week, we were invited to her NYC boutique to get a sneak peek of the new Treasures by Shabby Chic® collection for QVC. The new pieces consisted of items like elegant fleur de lis coat hooks, bedside tables and colorful antique looking hatboxes, among other “treasures.” You can see that Ashwell’s frequent jaunts to flea markets around the world have given her a unique and multi- dimensional aesthetic view. The entire collection will launch on the QVC website and on TV on Oct 26, although some are available now. Probably best to stock up now. We have a feeling these stylish and well-priced pieces won’t stay in stock for long!
