We always love it when great design and a good cause come together, so when we heard Edward Fields was teaming up with The Alpha Workshops, we were immediately intrigued.  Edward Fields Carpet Makers has been a well-regarded, high-end rug company for over 70 years. The Alpha Workshops is the U.S.’s only not-for-profit that trains people living with HIV/AIDS in the decorative arts. This week, we were able to get a sneak peek at the result of the collaboration of these two venerable entities: a new luxury carpet collection, boasting patterns carefully selected from The Alpha Workshops archives.  Using materials ranging from acrylic, viscose, wool, lurex, cashmere and silk, each piece in the collection is truly unique and boasts its own aptly chosen Greek name.  “Epifano,” Greek for “bringing light,” is a carpet, which literally “sparkles” and takes its inspiration from a polymer clay and glitter piece of art. “Teigra,” meaning Tiger is an abstract interpretation of faux Tiger skin; a  sophisticated and refreshingly new take on the ubiquitous animal print.

A few of the masterpieces we previewed:
