Design on a Dime Opens Tonight!

Design on a Dime, NYC’s most stylish and iconic shopping benefit, opens tonight and boy are we ready to buy! We fell in love with the charitable event last year and just can’t wait to go back. Held at the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th St, NYC), it features more than 50 of the world’s top interior designers, who create unforgettable room vignettes with new merchandise, which is donated and then sold for 50-70% off retail pricing.

As this season is all about color, we can’t wait to see what bright, bold and beautiful treats are in store for us. We have our eye on Genevieve Gorder, renowned interior designer and HGTV star, who has taken furniture from the Housing Works Thrift Shops and used Valspar Paint to transform them into fresh new pieces.  She’ll be there to provide how-to tips, color palette inspiration, accent colors ideas, and tips on how to take an inexpensive piece of furniture and make it new with a simple and fresh pop of color.

John Douglas Eason is designing an uber-luxurios home spa, complete with a fab shower pipe from Axor Citterio.

Hospitality designer Charles Farruggio told us that his vignette quickly evolved into an over the top red walled chic sheik gilt bordello. “It all started with a pair of Egyptian Revival armchairs donated by some friends,” he adds.

The shopping continues with a free public sale on April 27-28.
