Remembering Charles Pollock

We are deeply saddened by the passing of famed furniture designer Charles Pollock, who died in a fire that engulfed his Jamaica, Queens apartment yesterday morning at the age of 83. Pollock is the designer behind one of the most popular Midcentury Modern office chairs: the 1963 Pollack Executive Chair, which remains a part of the Knoll Collection to this day.
Last year, after a nearly 30-year hiatus, Pollock returned to furniture design, this time collaborating with Jerry Helling of Bernhardt Design. The partnership resulted in the fluid, ergonomically designed CP Lounge Chair, which premiered at the 2012 International Contemporary Furniture Fair.
