MADE Is Turning 8

On September 16, the Architectural Digest Home Design Show threw an early birthday party for MADE at the Gilded Lily, an underground bar and nightclub in Chelsea. A fitting venue for a design-conscious crowd, the entirety of the space is surrounded by gold, cushioned seats and in the center, a massive chandelier hung from the ceiling, which created a mysterious, lighting effect throughout.

It was the perfect place to celebrate MADE and all of its fabulous makers. Always a fan favorite, MADE is known for its curated selection of one-of-a-kind objects and furnishings. The pavilion will be turning 8 this March and features a cross-section of products that range from furniture to art and lighting. Some standouts from last year’s show included Fort Standard, a New York based industrial design studio, and David Stine, a woodworker based in Illinois.

Several designers will be making their MADE debut this March, such as AMMA Studio, who use unconventional materials like rock salt, sand and silica to create conceptually unique pieces. In addition, Material Lust, a New York based studio that designs objects around their ‘admittedly ominous’ aesthetic, will show their work at MADE for the first time.

Both new and returning MADE designers came to the event, which was DJ’d by Tammer Hijazi, a MADE veteran and one of the co-founders of Bower, a Brooklyn-based design studio.

After meeting with new and returning designers, we can’t wait to see what this year’s show has in store! The show will run from March 19 – 22, 2015.
