Allora! As we begin looking forward to fall, we are eagerly awaiting one of our favorite annual events: Cersaie, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings. From September 28-October 2, 2015 the city of Bologna, Italy will play host to 900 exhibitors from over 30 countries. Organized by Edi. Cer SpA and promoted by Confindustria Ceramica, Cersaie will take place in BolognaFiere, Bologna’s premier exhibition center. Here, vendors of tile, bathroom furnishings, specialty flooring, and more will display their wares to an expected 100,000 visitors.

As usual, this year’s Cersaie agenda doesn’t fail to excite. The event kicks off with the annual conference and seminar series, Building, Dwelling, Thinking, featuring leading speakers from the design and architecture community. This year’s keynote address will be delivered by Pritzker Prize winner Glenn Murcutt, who is widely regarded as Australia’s most famous architect. Murcutt is noted for his simple yet high-functioning designs, and penchant for using raw materials that produce little environmental impact. This sustainability focus is kept consistent in Cersaie’s image this year; the 2015 exhibition poster designed by Italian industrial design students, Elena Del Prete and Giuglielmo Gennari, highlights the production process of raw materials from which ceramic is derived.

CERSAIE 2015

With the Emilia Romagna region as the Italian epicenter for tile manufacturing, it would be remiss to leave out the magnificent tiles displayed at Cersaie. The 2015 Tiling Town–an exhibition showing a variety of techniques–will be a must-see for the latest in tile installation and laying. In addition, leading global tile manufacturers including Marazzi, Florim and Sicis, will show their most recent collections.

We are also excited to see the Cer-Stile collective exhibition, created by Angelo Dall’Aglio and Davide Vercelli, which will be dedicated to creative renovations of typical Italian landscapes with the addition of commercial and hospitality spaces. Finally, one of our favorite exhibits, Cersaie Designs Your Home, will be back again this year, offering visitors the chance for a free consultation with an architect at the show. A little Italian design flair does every home good.

In conjunction with Cersaie, Bologna will produce the first ever Bologna Design Week (BDW), a city-wide design innovation event from September 30-October 3. The event will offer a networking platform for new and established designers, as well as a cultural itinerary to celebrate Bologna’s rich history in art, design, food and music. With a creative spotlight on the city, Bologna is sure to become a new Italian hub for all things design!
