Just A Few of Our Favorite Things

By samantha

Archtober celebrations and fun collaborations,

WantedDesign and posting online,

Going to SoHo and learning all the brilliantly designed logos…

…these are a few of our favorite things…. And they’re all coming together to end Archtober with a bang!

This coming Friday and Saturday, October 30th-31st, The SoHo Design District and WantedDesign will play host to the Instagram Design Hunt. Attendees will explore 13 of SoHo’s sophisticated design showrooms, while being tasked with finding, photographing, and posting a selected product at each showroom on Instagram. Through the utilization of hashtags in each post, participants will have the potential of connecting further with each showroom’s products, by being entered to win an assortment of design-savy prizes.

Stop by and discover why New York’s top design showrooms call SoHo home from 11-9PM on Friday and 11-5 on Saturday.

Brain Food

By samantha

Funky, fresh, and flavorful, the opening of the Museum of Food and Drink’s first exhibit, “Flavor: Making It & Faking It,” is upon us. Commencing on October 28thth, the exhibit will feature five months of sweet and salty food insight. Utilizing a smell machine, along with an array of other interactive components, the exhibit seeks to portray the complex nature of flavor; specifically its separation from food through the birth of the artificial flavor industry. Envisioned by MOFAD’s founder, Dave Arnold, Flavor: Making It & Faking It adds a dash of fun to the culturally significant dialogue currently surrounding consumption.

Dering Hall’s Wired & Inspired Falls Into Fashion

By samantha

It’s always fun to see what happens when the design and fashion worlds meet! Take, for example, Dering Hall‘s recent haute couture edition of its popular Wired & Inspired virtual showhouse. The newly redesigned shopping site unveiled the stylish showhouse in partnership with Thomas Lavin during Pacific Design Center‘s Fall Market.

Wired & inspired is Dering Hall’s innovative twist on the traditional brick and mortar showhouse, with digital “rooms.” For this installment, top California interior designers created virtual spaces inspired by their favorite fashion designers using furnishings from Thomas Lavin and color palettes by Farrow & Ball.
Take a peek at a few below and see the entire house here.
