Richard Meier

We had the pleasure of meeting him in Chicago in 2007 and are super excited to have this eminent American architect right here in our backyard (maybe not the right term to use when referring to NYC) on June 3. Thanks to Taschen and The Architect’s Newspaper, Richard Meier will sign copies of his magnificent 568 page monograph featuring his impressive internationally acclaimed body of work. The Pritzker Prize Laureate collaborated closely with graphic designer Massimo Vignelli, editor Philip Jodidio and author Alberto Campo Baeza on this exceptional volume, entitled Richard Meier and Partners, Complete Works 1963-2008.

KASUGAI EXHIBIT at Gracie Studio

This event will celebrate the launch of a special exhibit and sale of the work of Japanese artist and master papermaker Masayoshi Kasugai. The works are part of a longtime collection started by the company's founder Charles Gracie, who discovered the Japanese artist on one of his many visits to the Far East and continued to collect his art until the 1970s. Kasugai was born 1921 and lived in the Japanese mountain village of Obara where he perfected special techniques for creating trees, landscapes and abstract works by laying unmacerated strips of Kozo inner bark into a pulp background. The result is a blend of texture and color areas with a harmony of its own, unachievable in any other medium.

When: June 5-20, 2008, Monday-Friday,11am-3pm
Where: Gracie Studio, 419 Lafayette Street, New York
